What to look for to check the freshness of a flower?

Ordering and gifting flower is a lovely act. But what if the flower delivered are not fresh or dull? That scenario removes all the excitement and feeling of love which we want to share. Here we have shared few tips to check freshness of a flower so you can gift fresh flowers and keep your relation lovely.

1. The buds: While checking for freshness, look out for bud and its color. Check color of bud. If you see discoloration, wilting or dullness, you can know that the flower is at par its freshness. Roses and tulips are fresher when their buds are tightly closed. As flower blossoms more as it opens up, hence you should look for tight buds in roses and tulips to make sure the freshness will last longer.

2. The Stem: Just like the bud, look out for sturdiness of a stem. The sturdier stem is the fresher flower is. If the stem is bending or loose, consider that the flower will not last long enough in that condition or is near to getting old.

3. The Leaves: Like petals, the leaves along the stem should be healthy and green. If they're brown and wilting – or if there are spots along the stem where leaves have already wilted and fallen off – the flowers won't last you as long.

4. The Water: Most flowers should be kept in fresh water to retain its freshness. While it is tough for a normal person to know the condition of water, just check there is no dead leaves or water in the vase isn't murky. If those are present, it means the water is containing bacteria which may affect flower’s health.
